Vintage Canadian Made Hard Leather Suitcase Luggage Made by Christie Baggage
in Amherst, Nova Scotia. This war time era suitcase was made in the
1940's-1950's. It is made of hardened leather and has a leather handle as well.
There is a wear and a damage tear in the leather as seen in the photos. The
inside is hard lined and in very good condition with the straps missing some of
their snap buttons or haven fallen off. There are a couple of moisture stains
as seen in the photos and it has not been attempted to clean. There is no odor.
This is a well cared for suitcase in very good vintage condition consistent
with age related wear and use. It opens and closes with no issues and is
straight and true. This suitcase measures approx. 21" x 15" x 7".

Christie Bros. and Co. was founded in 1863 when brothers Charles and George
Christie purchased the former Nelson Mills mill and carriage shop in Amherst,
Nova Scotia. The company manufactured carriages until 1882 and began
manufacturing coffins and caskets in 1880 when J. Alexander Christie joined the
company. In 1893, Christie Bros. expanded into trunks, traveling bags and
suitcases, adding other leather products in 1910. In 1913, Christie Bros.’
casket division amalgamated with Dominion Manufacturing Limited of Toronto, and
the business was renamed Christie Trunk & Bag Co. Ltd. The factory moved to a
new location in the early 1960s before closing in 1968 with all the equipment
being sold to Continental Luggage.

This suitcase and a piece of Canadian history is still functional as intended
or can add that charm and delight as an end table or night table to your space.

was not read thoroughly or all the pictures were not examined closely and

to buy it and leave a vengeful 1 star rating because of your own haste and to
blame me for it.
